Whitney Houston ist am Abend des 11. Februar tot in ihrem Hotelzimmer gefunden worden. Die Todesursache ist bisher noch unbekannt. Whitney Houston wurde 48 Jahre alt.
Der Produzent Clive Davis fand Whitney Houston tot in ihrem Hotelzimmer in Beverly Hills, wo sie am Abend auf Davis’ Pre-Grammy-Party live auftreten sollte. Die Party fand dennoch statt – lediglich mit einer Schweigeminute für Houston.
Die Musikwelt kommentierte umgehend den tragischen Tod. Rapper P. Diddy sagte auf Davis’ Veranstaltung am gestrigen Abend: "Whitney always hit you with that beautiful smile, that incredible energy. Whitney Houston had the greatest voice in the world. We truly lost an angel." Christina Aguilera twitterte: "We have lost another legend. Love and prayers to Whitney's family. She will be missed." Mariah Carey veröffentlichte folgendes Statement: "Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney's family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth."
