Was war das wieder schön letzte Nacht: Kendrick Lamar räumt verdiente fünf Awards ab, ein Tribut reiht sich an den nächsten und Justin Bieber schnappt sich seinen allerersten Grammy… Die 58. Verleihung der Grammy-Awards war keine skandalträchtige, aber Tränen flossen ohnehin genug.

Mit elf Nominierungen standen die Chancen für den klaren Gewinner des Abends, Kendrick Lamar, schon von vornherein gut. Er gewann unter anderem in den Kategorien Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song und Best Rap Performance. Zum besten Album wurde Taylor Swifts 1989 gekürt, insgesamt gingen drei Awards an die Sängerin.

Taylor zeigte zudem elegant, was sie von Kanyes Wests überheblichen Sprüchen ihr gegenüber hält: „Als erste Frau, die zum zweiten Mal für das Album des Jahres ausgezeichnet wird, will ich all den jungen Frauen da draußen sagen, dass es immer wieder Leute geben wird, die euren Erfolg untergraben wollen. Oder sogar die Lorbeeren davon einheimsen wollen.“

Die Verleihung gab außerdem einige sentimentale Auftritte her: Stevie Wonder ehrte Earth Wind and Fire-Sänger Maurice White mit „That’s the Way of the World“, die Eagles gedachten mit „Take It Easy“ des verstorbenen Sängers Glenn Frey und Lady Gaga versuchte, so viele Bowie-Songs wie möglich in ein Medley zu packen.
